We have wrapped up the first room makeover in our new place and wow, it was much sooner than expected! I mentioned in one of my last posts about replacing our mailbox that our new home was loved very well and updated in the places that it matters. The rest of the changes that we want to make are, for the most part, cosmetic. Our guest bath is a perfect example of that.
Here is what we were working with as the ‘before’:

Things to change:
- the wall color
- that terribly painted “gold” mirror
- light fixture
- towel ring/free-standing toilet paper holder
and our after?

We started by painting the green walls a slightly, slightly muted white. The exact shade is Zurich White by Sherwin Williams. You can see the difference between Zurich White and SW’s ‘Pure White’ in the second ‘before’ photo. I had them swatched side-by-side.
Next on the docket was swapping out the old mirror for the fan-favorite round mirror from Target. Having the round mirror made me want a different light fixture that had only two bulbs to balance the wall out (and let’s be honest, I wasn’t a huge fan of the original lights anyway) so I swapped them for a new fixture from Wayfair. I’m not a fan of the silver finish but the gold was sold out for many months and I don’t have immediate plans to change the tone of the faucet, vanity knobs or shower head and those are all stainless steel and/or chrome. For now, it works.
This floating shelf was the perfect addition to break up the white-ness of that main wall and it allowed some decor in the space. I LOVE this candle from Paddywax (best candles) and the sign and framed art are both from Target. Floating shelf, too!
I’m glad the first finalized space in the house was one that so many will use. This is the main bathroom in our home and having it look polished makes me excited to have people over (eventually) to show it off to!
